Qualities of size, color, shape and space dominate my thinking and direct my
actions as I paint. I assign no specific symbolic significance to elements within my
pictures. My primary intention is to create a distinctive visual order that attracts and holds my
attention. The quality of this order is the significance of my work, and gives form to intentions
that seem otherwise indescribable.
For the past several decades my pictures endured layers of revision, proceeding indirectly
from start to finish. During 2024, I changed my approach, working exclusively with watercolor
on paper in a direct manner without consideralbe revision.
